Sure, let's do it! I've done a bit of research on USN design but know barely anything about Soviet design, so this will be a learning experience for me. How are they going to take the pressure from the main guns? Not very well, I presume. get rid of the Uragan/Gadfly Aye aye. I see Drum Tilt directo...

Why is it called "Tirpitzski"? Because the storyline devised by the original modeler states that it is a Soviet capture at the end of WWII. Also, it looks like the What If Modelers forum is down right now... Firstpoint is, I guess, that you didn't take the most up-to-date components to kitbash. The...

Ok I promised to do this a while ago, and now I’ve finally done it. This was inspired by Sauragnmon’s Soviet Tirpitz build posted on the What If Modelers forum. A couple things to note, there are four rotary S-300F launchers behind the rear SS-N-12, and some SA-N-9 launchers behind the forward SS-N-...

And thanks for the link, I would like to see a USSR rebuild in shipbucket scale  Challenge accepted! I'll do the Soviet version as done in the link above, and then I'll take a crack at NATO. It may take a while though, as the Tirpitz drawing I'm using is quite detailed. As far as a believa...

I agree that a Soviet rebuild is much more plausible. If I were doing that, I would replace the electronics and secondaries, and add heavy AShM. I've already seen people do that before though, so that's why I'm more interested in mimicking an Iowa. I've seen plans to do so, but I can't find anyone w...

This question concerns modernizing a warship based on a what-if scenario. Some members on another forum suggested a scenario in which Tirpitz survived WWII and was kept by either the US or a NATO ally. The goal was to scale-model a NATO-1985 Tirpitz, refitted in the same manner as the Iowa class. My...

Fair enough! For my own edification though, can you explain why it would fall apart? Mechanics aren't my kind of engineering.

Hey all! I've played around for a long time now with different Shipbucket designs, but this is the first one I'm actually posting up here. Alls I did was take a Type XXI, extend the hull and the sail, make the sail a bit taller, and added a "blister" on the bottom. The goal was to fit 3 V-2s inside,...

That is pretty fantastic. I've never seen that movie, but i did have a similar idea. Minus the opening bay doors on the front and a much smaller docking area. My idea was actually just a section large enough to mate with the loading area of the sub.

I suppose there is no good way to conceal that without being suspicious, which is the goal. What about the Kriegsmarine approach in WWII? The "milk cow" replenishment sub? I think it was the Type XIV. You could conceal their coming and going easier, especially if you had an underground sub base like...
