apart from the fact that that fact (the hull damage to the DDG-51 class ships) happened years after the current version of US destroyers was released, so he could not have mentioned it? The Tico also does not have a fuller hull as the Spruance? (it has exactly the same) and I also see no proof of t...

Curious how neither Friedman's Destroyers nor Potter's Electronic Greyhounds make any mention of the Spruances needing "reframing" after being fit with VLS forward. Seems like something one or both of them might mention, as they devote pages upon pages to the subject of the DD-963s being designed s...

they welded a strengthening beam along the hull at main deck level and called it a day.
QED. "That" simple fix raised issues and showed a design flaw.

If you use a new build design based on existing plans (Here we use the RN Broadswords (Batch III)and the US Arleighs (Flight IIs) ), that sort of type reframings and subdivisions redistributions I suggested will be just as necessary to modify off the paper plans to bend new steel. I neglected to mention that Mister McKinley's Navy uses Schwartzkopf torpedoes. In 1898 the surface fleet uses compressed air launchers. Subs use Hunter (1862) swimout torpedo tubes.

Which American Spruances or Italian Cavours? As far as I know, neither design had a lengthened variant build, definitely not the Spruance. Anyways, reframing? what is that supposed to be? I suppose you refer to the longitudinal frames in a ship, which are oversized enough that 1 or 2 meters additio...

1. Endicott believed in simplicity. He just chose the wrong vendor RTL. 2. If I had a choice between Bliss Leavitt and Schwartzkopfs in 1931? I would objectively prefer Bliss Leavitt. It was the USN torpedo station torpedoes made upon Goat Island that were terrible, not the Biss Leavitt prototype we...

What about reframing issues? Lengthening a ship is virtually a redesign from the keel up if you stick a new section in the middle. I'm thinking of some of the American Spruances and the Italian Cavours. Which American Spruances or Italian Cavours? As far as I know, neither design had a lengthened v...
