After the success of the SSC/SSK challenge, I figured I'd make a SSN challenge to see what nuke boats we could come up with.

The rules are:

- 1970's - today technology
- No longer than 120 meters
- 6,000 to 10,000 tons displacement
- Designed for deep water operations. Littoral capability is a plus.
- Primary mission: ASW/ASuW
- Secondary (optional) missions: Land strike, SpecOps insertion
- Armament: designer's choice

I'll start off with something I've been working on:

So, anyone interested?

Definitely interested in submitting something though the brief is a little sparse.

Really we need a major gap between these design challenges.

I disagree, I quite like the more generic challenges. However having a good gap between the specific challenges (ASW and Tartar spring to mind) is a good idea if only to work out a detailed and well thought out set of requirements etc.

I think the weight limits is a bit small if I want a 140m nuke sub.

Sorry, these are getting a little eye-roll-y.

Do we have any placeholders for a nuclear reactor?
I would try my hand at something small again but I always screw up the size and placement of power systems, etc.
