I have redrawn the TSR.2 from scratch using more up to date sources.

The first two prototypes, XR220 of course never flew and is preserved at the RAF Museum, Cosford.

A what-if series showing all the main armament combinations planned for TSR.2 and some of the units.
The early aircraft are shown in BAC's planned camouflage scheme with white lower surfaces which did not quite meet RAF standards.
The Operational Development Squadron and 237 Operational Conversion Unit would have been based at Coningsby, the ODS later forming the core of the first planned operational unit, 40 Squadron.
No other planned squadrons are confirmed so the identities used are units which had operated Canberras or Vulcans and who later operated Phantoms or Buccaneers in the strike role. Only two bases were planned for UK based operations, Coningsby for training and Honington as the main operational base. Akrotiri in Cyprus and Tengah in Singapore were the planned overseas bases.
Roles shown are:
40 Sqn TSR.2: nuclear strike role with 2x WE.177B internally and two chaff dispensers on outboard hardpoints and two 450 gallon drop tanks
12 Sqn TSR.2: nuclear strike role with 2x WE.117C on the inner hardpoints and two chaff dispensers on outboard hardpoints and a 570 gallon weapons-bay tank
32 Sqn TSR.2: conventional strike role with 6x internal and 4x external 1,000lb MC bombs
45 Sqn TSR.2: conventional strike role with 4x external 1,000lb MC bombs and a 1,425 gallon ventral ferry tank
9 Sqn TSR.2: conventional strike role with 6x internal 1,000lb MC bombs and 4x external 68mm SNEB rocket packs
6 Sqn TSR.2: conventional strike role with 4x TV-guided Martel ASMs and a 570 gallon weapons-bay tank
81 Sqn TSR.2: reconnaissance role with a weapons-bay mounted reconnaissance pack with ARI.23132 optical linescan, ARI.23136 Q-band SLAR and three vertical FX.126 cameras (plus the standard 3x F.95 cameras fitted in the basic strike/recon role)

Type 575 Trainer Proposal
Designed a conversion trainer with less sophisticated navigation equipment but retaining a weapons capability. Some may have been built in trainer configuration, BAC did look at a dual-role airframe which could be converted using specialist packs to and from strike configuration. No decision had been reached before cancellation.

Wooow! Great work!

Just one nit-pick, though - I'd use either black or much, much darker shade for top and bottom contour of intakes, as right now they mix-up coloristically with panel lines, despite actually representing actual change in the shape (in-depth, from viewers position) of the object.
IMHO it's the FD-scale relative of SB's "The darkest shadow shade. This is used to (...) demarcate angular breaks in the superstructure less than 90 degrees in angle." (although I'd say that in FD in practice we don't really use the "90 degrees rule" in it's literal sense - more like "black sharp break" and "very dark almost-sharp break")

Yes, I tried a few variants before settling on the colours I used. I try to avoid black lines inside aircraft except for glazed areas, undercarriage doors and airbrakes and wing leading edges and those sections of intake that are seperate from the fuselage (e.g. boundary layer splitters, boxy MiG-25 style ramps). TSR.2s intakes were well faired in. I think there is no direct right or wrong answer. Partly the white colour scheme made me hesitant to use too dark a colour to spoil the overall effect.

I have more TSR.2 works in mind so I will revisit the intake area again to maybe use a darker line.

I'm glad you noticed that. Most what-if artwork always shows the original intakes when in reality the production aircraft would have had a different intake.

Whilst looking at the P.1216 for AU use it came to my attention that Darth Panda's original drawing of the P.1216 seems to be a mishmash of various parts of the development lineage of the P.1216. That or it was based off of Sentinel Chicken's profiles? As such, using Michael Pryce's excellent book for references I set myself the task of drawing the two variants that I required and it seemed a shame not to produce blanks for this thread. I then thought that I might as well do a couple of schemes too.

Of note, the formation lights, collision avoidance lights and forward RWR are speculative in placement. Whilst the horizontal and vertical tail surfaces were envisaged to be interchangeable I can't see that being the case if lighting were to be required in the vertical fins.

At some point I'll get around to doing some other views, gear-down, top etc.

Mark, Very nice drawing! and yes my drawing was based on Dentinel Chicken‘s profiles and Tom Buttler‘s British Secret Projects : Jet Fighters Since 1950.
