Something new and something old.

M-56 is a yugoslav howitzer firing american type M1 semifixed ammo. With ideas both from M101 and LeFH-18, is a sound and reliable weapon, with better range than the former weapons due its longer (28 caliber) barrel. For improving further more the range, the A1 version has a 33 caliber barrel.
Credits: Thanks to Markhan, I "stealed" his nice FAP truck and also copied the yugoslav green shades for the serbian guns.


My first Armstrong gun in FD scale and also the first heavy Armstrong gun built in significant numbers. 7 inch RBL was a good gun only with a careful manipulation, which was not the case in every combat situation. It was the heaviest gun in HMS Warrior, and was in many British and Commonwealth fortifications.
And yes, Ashebourton is right, fortification guns are not "vehicles" in strict sense, and the gun with Moncrieff mount is even worst ! I know that SB style is without floor, but only in this case, I think that the pit walls and the floor are necesary for understanding the function of the disappearing mount. But of course, I can match the style if necesary, I also have the gun in the same mount out from the pit ! Thanks for Andy and his wonderfully useful link! Cheers.

As you say the pit is important to understand the guns function so I thin it should stay.
Wasn't a large part of the issues with the 7in Armstrong attributed to a general lack of formal gunnery training in the Royal Navy?

And I agree with Thiel. I think the gunpit floor and walls should stay, as they help to demonstrate what is meant by "disappearing mount".

I think (obviuslly, as "armchair general") that there are 3 problems with the BL system of this gun: the weight of the vent piece (more or less 70 kg), the rust in the breech, and the muscle based closure of the breech. With proper training you can overcome the last two, but taking off and puting in the vent piece for every shot was a very tiring buisness ! 20 years later, Armstrong's BLR were built without the vent piece and with a de Bange type obturator. Cheers/

More French 'camions': this time Renault GBC 180. The chassis of ATM 15 is some 20 cms longer than that of AT 15s. The 'Long' is way longer
