Greetings Shipbucket. I have lurked and practiced for many years, but have finally decided to get active here. I think I've learned enough to make good ships, but I need the expertise of this community to get better. My drawing skills have gotten better, but I still need help with community standards and some of the finer points of ship design, especially as my projects get more original.

Nation States is what got me interested in Shipbucket in the first place, and it's what I do my drawings for. I don't know if that's some sort of taboo here or what, but that's what I do. I also use Imgur for uploading my images, so if that's a problem, let me know. GIMP is my image editor of choice.

Here's one of my most recent works and one of my slightly more original pieces.

As you can see, it's a mashup of the Alfonso de Bazan and Flight III Burke classes. The flag hoist and hull number are in honor of the USS Fargo.

I hope nothing I've done so far is too wrong, and that I can participate further in the community. Cheers!

For a first effort it's certainly quite nice - you clearly understand the style rules etc. and it's refreshing to see a new artist crediting perfectly. ;)

Re: NationStates, there is no issue with drawing ships for NS scenarios (indeed my own work is destined for an NS derivative game world) - the general annoyance here around NS is the constant uncredited use of our drawings and the somewhat dubious level of technical knowledge shown by most of the kitbashers over there. ;)

In short, welcome. :)

Thank you sir. That's not at all a first attempt, though. I would die of embarrassment if I posted my earliest drawings. And yes, I know what you're talking about with the questionable drawings.

Seconding Colo, welcome and smooth introduction.

There's a lot of knowledgeable people who can evaluate your ship on its design merits, but may I tempt you to use the smaller and newer life rings?

Thank you. I was not aware of new pattern life rings. Where may I find it?

I assume that Personal is the right category to ask for critiques on my designs?

Neat. Other than perhaps looking a bit squat it certainly seems workable enough.

A warm welcome to you, and may you continue with your good work.
I'm not at all knowledgeable concerning modern warships, but the the style is on par with regulation as well as the credit line, the last item seems to be an insurmountable obstacle to most new comers.
I believe the drawing itself belongs to the personal designs thread?
