Ah yes, excellent point. Thanks for pointing that out. And yes thats how they named the turrets: Anton, Bruno, Cesar, & Dora.

But how would it be economical to remove the armor belt that is welded/riveted onto the hull only to replace it later? Unless that was something you added to the ship to begin with...

Well I'm going for an Italian style rebuild. I am still researching how they actually were able to lengthen and give their battleships Atlantic bows.

The rebuild of the four Italian BBs was truly a marvel of engineering. According to a book I have, the Cavour-class had a new bow built OVER the existing one, while the Duilio-class ships were given totally new bows altogether.

FWIW,

I misread, I think...if the ship was built with a bow to stearn belt, better to leave it probably. Could throw off the ship's stability. If this was New-build, then definately go all or nothing, then.

I think I'm going to put this ship on hold for awhile. I'm going to start on the cruisers for now. But I promise I will come back the the Bayern modernization.

Here is the start of the Schlesien class heavy cruisers. Now with guns. 11in guns in triple turrets.
