As I have started on drawing ships of the US merchant marine, I had decided it deserves a whole new thread all to itself.
I have started with the Matson Navigation SS Maui

which already appeared in the merchant ship thread to kick this thread off.
Next is the SS Manulani of the Matson Navigation company, which was built in 1921, with a sister ship the SS Manukai. These were for the freight service between Honolulu and San Francisco, along side the passenger service which was done by ships like the Maui. And so the Manulani

In 1925 the American south African lines was created to connect the US with South Africa, with ships under the American registry. In 1928 as part of a government assistance program in creating jobs a new liner was launched for the company. The ship was novel in her choice of propulsion, being a motor ship, and was sunk during WW2 by a German submarine.
The ship is MS City of New York

Great looking motor ship, not as smart as the RMS Georgic or the Mauritania II but still a fine vessel.

Would it be possible for me to use this hull and re-work the superstructure for my AU? I see an idea for a vessel like this serving the route to San Fransisco from Anadyr via Anchorage.

Please do. Your AU is one of the best

I wouldn't say it's anywhere near the quality of some of the AUs here but thank you.

Tomorrow morning I shall get to work on preparing her for service in the Bering strait and North Pacific...
