Well, if there aren't any more comments on these upgrades to the Jupiter class, I'll call it a win and consider them suitably reasonable. Thanks for the comments and ideas, guys! :) They've now been added to the section on the Jupiter Class.

If you're going to carry 20mm guns on the hangar, why no carry them on top of it. The installation will be lighter, simpler, easier to keep supplied and it won't get in the way if you have to moor alongside something tall.
Also, I'd drop that 40mm aft of the funnels down a level and find a director for it. The problem with machine guns of all sizes is that they're heavy and they eat a staggeringly large amount of ammunition which in this time frame can only realistically be supplied by hand.

Since I generally have several projects running at once, I got started last night on a DD from 1911. Just a basic outline so far, mostly based on the USN Paulding Class, but a bit shorter (about 265' vs the Pauldings 297').

I have run into some difficulties though, and I'm hoping one of you shipwizards here can help me out. My difficulties with shading is common knowledge, so it may come as no surprise that I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to do the semi-turtleback look of the fore parts. Advise anybody? Please?

This is what I'm going for on the fore bits, but I can't seem to make it look anywhere close to that.

advise, please?

Just realized I forgot to post an example of my attempts to do the semi-turtle.

It's looking good, and having drawn a few earlier DD's, I would say to remove most of the portholes amidships, but keep a few aft. Mosly around the funnel area. You should also consider adding a fender over the propeller. Other than that, I'd say she's looking good.

I agree with Raxar. That's a nicely looking early DD (and finished I gues it will look even nicer). :)
