Something different, inspiration taken from what I understand to be one of several designs lobbied at Israel some years back with some differences.

[ img ]
  • 113.5m long
  • 4.11m draught nominal
  • 14.5m maximum beam @wl
  • Appx. 2700 tonnes displacement loaded
  • IFEP via 4 MTU diesel gensets @ ~3.5MW ea. and 1x RR WR-21 @ ~25.2MW with a waste heat turbine bringing total installed power to around 40MW
  • 15kt cruising speed with 33knot top speed
  • 7,500km range
  • Crew of between 100-110 personnel with space for 130
  • Armament is pretty self explanatory
  • Space for one small helicopter or X number of UAVs (lynx sized or smaller really)
I'm aware the thing is more than likely grossly top heavy and will probably fall over in a light breeze but perfection is not the reason I drew the thing.

Interesting. I guess it's something of the "pumped-up Saar-5 meets Aegis" kind?

This I like :D I've been a great admirer of the Israeli Saar frigate - a lot in a small package; and now this exercise gives us an idea of what could be done on an enlarged hull. Its not my remit to judge stability, but from a quick glance this design seems reasonable.

Cheers! I've also always admired the Sa'ar 5 despite their shortcomings, they're interesting wee vessels.

Interesting vessel, and handsome too! Very comparable to my own design in that range, with a slight difference in priorities.

Bronies are like the Forsworn. Everyone agrees that they are a problem but nobody wants to expend the energy rooting them out.

Thanks! Would it be the Bellona klasse that it looks like?

Don't ask why because I'm not really sure myself to be honest... :?
