Taking a slight break from destructive things. A long way yet to go yet. I might do some AU variations too.

Looks good, hope to see it progress!
I still need to find time to work on my Tornado. I've also been trying to do the BR Class 321 and the Electrostar family (357/375/377/378/379), but struggling for reference drawings or good photos, and I'd appreciate any links if anyone knows a good source. I'd love to see the Pendolino (390), Javelin (395) and the London Underground S7/S8 too.

I may have these in a book of mine, if I do I'll send you a scan.
BTW, it's a big book, so if anyone needs a ref of a passenger loco, PM me and I'll see if I have it.

I've got shed loads of stem era reference material but nothing really modern. I've also been looking through these.

Here is my first scratch drawn FD scale train WIP.

it is a small 0-8-0 mixed traffic tank engine for Rheinland Reichsbahn,

I know it looks a bit crappy but I want feedback anyway.

@APDAF
he locomotive is actually quite cute, but I'm afraid it looks like it's missing... the engine (cylinders) and most of the associated running gear.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Walsc ... motion.gif

I'm not an expert on steam engines, but I think that the only steam locomotives which for a running gear had essentially only a single rod connecting all wheels were those with steam turbines.
Btw. think about something that would allow the engineer enter the cabin. ;)

eswube sniped me but still.

@eswube, inside cylinder locos don't have any discernible external running gear other than the reversing lever generally.

That looks like something from a kids train-set...

Firstly, I've NEVER seen a brass safety valve cover on a German loco.
Secondly, an 0-8-0 is not small by any standard.
Thirdly, I'm guessing that your design is an inside cylinder design? If so why?
Fourthly, You aren't going to need smoke deflectors on a tank engine.
Fifthly, your wheels need spokes or if using Boxpok wheels more holes than real spokes.
Sixthly, you have what look like solid under-frames which means oiling up is going to be a pain in the arse
Seventh, You don't appear to have any discernible buffer beams
Eighth, Round top boiler? I see no discernible firebox / grate area
Ninth, why do you feel the need for wheel spashers when you don't have wheels protruding through the running plate?
Tenth, not all of the wheels have identical balancing weights on a loco. AFAIK the actual driving wheels have the larger weights.

I direct you to the following image.

Being a former traindispatcher and with some knowledge of trains, it appears to be rather unfeasable..

Inside cylinders are most common on british steam-locomotives
