Thanks a lot shipmates. :)

I have to say that the drawings are not as accurate as I would like them to be. Mostly, I don't have any plans to work from only rough outlines that I fill in the detail from photographs, which, in themselves, are of differing degrees of clarity. This naturally leads to inaccuracies especially with the underwater hull. I hope I have captured the essence of the ship.

I know that ferries are not everyone's cup of tea but there's something about them that appeals to me. I love the workhorse aspect and the fact that they have long careers sometimes with multiple companies. Where possible, I will try to represent the ferry in its many guises, if the ship has been transferred to another country.

An excellent resource for ferries is http://www.hhvferry.com/deckplans which has list of 100 or so vessels from past to present. In case anyone else has a taste for them ;)

I'd also like to say thank you to the forum for all the detailed parts sheets you have provided. I recently used huehen's excellent Norsafe boat sheet for my latest drawing MV Duc de Normandie which I will post soon...

MV Duc de Normandie was built in 1978 by the Velrome Shipyard in Heusden, Holland. Originally named Prinses Beatrix, she was owned by Stoomvaart Maatschappij Zeeland and ran the route of Hoek van Holland and Harwich. Bought by Brittany Ferries in 1985, they renamed her Duc De Normandie and she operated the Portsmouth - Ouistreham route until 2002 when she was transferred to Plymouth - Roscoff. She was sold off in 2004 to Trans Europa Ferries and renamed MV Wisteria. She currently runs the Almeria - Nador route chartered by Ferrimaroc

I've honestly never thought much of ferries but your drawings really bring out there inner beauty. Keep it up!

When I was a kid, I used to travel to Great-Britain with MV Leopard (Normandy Ferry first, then Townsend Thoresen) between Le Havre and Southampton. I remember the leopard steel sculpture on the main deck.

Thanks for the encouragement. I glad that people are enjoying the ships.

I've found the plans for the Leopard. A beautiful old ferry. I'll add her to the list. :)

Nice looking ferry. Certainly better looking than the floating bricks that you see mostly these days. Here the only ferries we get are the Spirit of Tasmania ones (ex Superfast ferries) which are fairly big but not too bad looking. Haven't been on them since 2004 when they first arrived here though.

Nice, I hear the Bass Strait has a bit of a reputation for lumpy crossings.

I hope to do a Prinses Beatrix version as well as Wisteria. :)

I found out there was a ferry service here, from Colombo to India. The MV Scotia Prince, started the route in 2011, after a 25 year hiatus, but was impounded in Colombo after 6 months for outstanding debts. :? She seems to be a perminent fixture in the docks. Sad end to a ferry which has been round the block a few times. Added. :)
