I am creating orbats for AU-States for a long time. In 2005 I created an orbat for an major european country with six divisions (one armored, three mechanized infantry, one mountain infantry and one airborne infantry. The structure was heavily inspired by the US Army-Organisation "Army of Excellence" of the 1980s and 1990s. The equipment was NATO-Equipment like Leopard-Tanks, AIFV, M109A6, MLRS, Fuchs, Gepard, Stinger, etc.. Mainly a mix of US and german equipment. My goal was not to creat a very sophiticated or complete orbat, but a very simple.

around 2009, I decided to create self-contained combat brigades with artilley, logistics etc., but I reduced the number of combat brigades from 17 to 12. I also created some new military intelligence and engineer units and put all the rocket launcher battalions in two rocket launcher regiments. Out of the six small combat aviation regiments I created two larger combat aviation brigades.

I also changed at that time the AIFV to the CV9035

Because then I thought, that 12 combat brigade could be to difficult to manage for the army without any operational formation between, I the created corps to manage the combat and support brigades. The corps still had armor, mechanized infantry, motorized infantry, mountain infantry and airborne infantry brigades.

Between around 2010 and 2015 I experimented with corps with different numbers of combat brigades from 6 to 10, with different types of combat brigades. Inspired by the french and italian army I introduced cavalry brigades. I also moved the airmobile and mountain infantry to a newly created rapid reaction force.

On combat brigade level I introduced a battery of multiple rocket launcher, possibly with smaler calibres then the MLRS (for example the LAR160). Influenced by the swedish army and the US Army Transformation I created combined arms battalions with tank and mechanized infantry companies. On Battalion level I introduced a 4. combat company and reenforced the support arms with a fire support company with mortars and ATGM (and also snipers).

Around 2018 I again moved the support battalions away from the combat brigades. There were several reasons for that. One of them was the flexibility to create with brigades either divisions or corps. I also wanted some infantry brigades without logistics and artillery.

I also changed the special Forces. Before the Special Forces Brigade was very similar to an US Special Forces Group. Now I changed it to one SAS-like-Battalion and two Commando-type Battalions.

Good morning, Glorfindel.
May I ask the color of your army corps? Green is for ligth infantry, yellow for cavalry/tanks, is White the color for "panzergrenadiers"?, is red for artillery?
The other question is more botanical. What leaf are you using for the army symbols (which are very nice, very detailed and superbly drawn)? Thanks and cheers.
