If they'd kept Tiger around as the training ship instead of Iron Duke then remilitarized her as war approached (pointless for Iron Duke but potentially useful with the much faster Tiger), the ammunition problem could be averted by adapting the turrets to carry the same 14" guns as the King George V class. I'm pretty sure Tiger's turrets could be adapted to handle the slightly larger gun. The gunnery problems experienced by the KGVs had to do with the turrets and not the guns, so that could work out pretty well.

Remember the Canada already had 14 inch guns in virtually the same turret. In any case there would have been plenty of 13.5 in ammo around after WW1, including plenty of the excellent 'Greenboy' projectiles, hopefully which would have already well distributed throughout the empire.
Replacing Tigers old coal-fired waterboilers with new oil-fired small-tube boilers would have given greatly enhanced thermal efficiency at significantly lower weight. Mated with new turbines and additional deck armor, a proper AA fit and modern fire control as per Renown would give you a vessel that the Glorious could have done with as a running mate when she met the Scharnhorst and Gneisenau.

I forgot to mention, the 14in the KGVs were I think buit-up guns and might not have been accomodated in the old turrets, while the Canada's were wire-bound and would be a better fit.

Just a little patience... HMAS Tiger already features in the Thiariaverse during WWII. Some of her history is written already. Drawings and a full account of her exploits to come soon in the 'Thiaria: Other People's Ships' thread. (or does anyone think I'd waste the opportunity to camouflage her??).

But don't expect a total reconstruction effort; her growth potential is too limited for that, and no one would spend such large amounts of money on her in the 1930s. But the Rs were seen through the second world war with very modest upgrades too; something along these lines will have to suffice for Tiger as well.

When deciding what to keep as a training ship when complying with London 1930, the RN is looking for economy, not planning what might be converted for a war with Germany and Japan in 1940. Tiger with 100,000shp was a costly brute to run, needing more stokers to be paid as well as more coal than Iron Duke, and it was not the aim in the 1930s to teach recruits how to shovel coal. The treaties were intended as means of avoiding war, not just making warship design harder.

Why not convert Tiger to aircraft carrier, should comply with WNT.

seeker. I agree modernising Tiger had little chance, but you have your decade wrong.
Churchill was Chancellor of the Exchequer from 1924 to 1929.

It just dawned on me that the Tiger has a similar appearance to the Kongou as she looked when first commissioned.

That is to be expected, Kongou's project was based on the Tiger
