These are good drawings, I like your classic SB style.

The only thing that strikes me is that all your ships are quite 'shallow', by that I mean the superstructures and funnels are quite low, no more than 2-3 decks max. This tends to give your ships a very sleek appearance, perhaps an impression of too much hull length at times. There is nothing wrong with that, indeed all your ships look like that and it makes them a more unified whole, like a distinctive national style.

Also, I admire anyone who goes to the lengths of camouflage schemes as they are a pain to draw! (for me anyway!).

Alexandria class heavy cruiser

[ img ]

Originally supposed to be part of the previous Juno class, the shortcomings of that class became apparent and were addressed with a major redesign in the form of the Alexandria class. Notable differences between the classes was a thicker 152mm belt, thick 50mm deck armor, shorter length, wider beam and smaller superstructure to remove serious balance issues, revising of the aircraft handling centers (Alexandria features an actual hanger amidships), as well as an updated secondary armament in the form of twins that sit aft, rather than single mounts that took up too much space around ship. However the secondary battery had very limited firing arcs, which were once again revised in succeeding classes.

As built, the Alexandrias mount the standard 203mm/55 gun in three triple mounts, three twin 127mm/45s mounted aft, a few 20mm singles and two triple 38mm anti-aircraft guns. While they were designed with the Osoran Sukara class in mind, which was larger, faster and had one more gun, the Antarans were satisfied with the ship's design. Robust Antaran fire-control, accurate artillery and hard-hitting shells is often said to be the reason for their belief in their cruisers' superiority, and this was no different with Alexandria.

I'm currently in the process of redrawing my partsheets, either by updating the appearance of my own original parts, or completely replacing parts I used from other sheets, like USN radar systems, etc.

Because of this all of my current drawings will be out of date to at least a small degree. (I'll most likely not be using USN radar so every drawing that has it included will be out of date).

I'll phase in the changes as you'll soon see, and perhaps I'll get around to updating my older drawings, especially my destroyers. I'd love to 'repaint' the camouflage of my earlier destroyers, as my previous method for doing was subpar in quality.

I have another cruiser class I'm working on that I'll upload in a few days at most.

Iris class heavy cruiser

[ img ]

The final pre-WW heavy cruiser class built by the Antaran Navy, designed to be the most powerful cruiser of its time, at the cost of violating the ENT by over 3500 tonnes. However due to the political state of Aemore in 1340, no nation paid any attention to the violation. The basis for the design was to improve the firepower of the previous Alexandria with as little compromise whatsoever, thus Iris had a 4xIII 203mm/55 gun layout, with two additional twin 127mm/45s on the forward deck. She did however have a thinner 127mm belt, but was faster during trials - going 34.1 knots on average. Iris's broadside firepower had such a kick that it was advised for captains to fire half-salvos to reduce the recoil.

All members of the Iris class were stationed in the Antaran East Coast at the outbreak of war and remained with the Freyatic Fleet until early 1345, when all units moved to the Scyllic. The class typically fought in the same fleet, all were present for the Battle of Zhentou and the Battle of Tuscadia, all survived for a while after the WW and were modernized for post-war use. ARS Monroe City managed to sink Raicho in 1345, during the Matu Island campaign, as well as Kyushi along with ARS Iris who sank Kakano - both during Zhentou.

After the war, Port Reid and Iris were selected for missile conversions in the late 50s, while Monroe City and Scarlette Bay were chosen to be converted to command cruisers.

I need a button to post "I like your camos!" automatically, the splotched fake bow fake stern one is simply top tier, and kudos for another handsome and sleek cruiser.

I did notice that your monoplane floatplane should be sitting lower and around the catapult dolly instead of having the dolly on top.

Cool but I can't help but think the aftmost 5" gun just doesn't have enough usable arc to justify its weight / crew requirements.

Prop guards should also always be centered over the outboard propellers.

Otherwise looking quite good as usual.

A nice design.
I would have been tempted to run the forecastle deck a little further aft to gain some extra internal space.

Also, there appears to be a kink in the bilge keel and hull shading just under the aft funnel, is this intentional?
